Full Steam Ahead for iZettle in Denmark, Finland and Norway
Card Reader and App Commercially Available on iPhone, iPad and Android
Visa Cards Now Accepted
STOCKHOLM – November 13, 2012: iZettle, the social payments company, today announced its app and mini chip-card reader that let you take card payments using a smartphone or tablet, is out of beta and now commercially available for individuals and businesses in Denmark, Finland and Norway.
The app can be downloaded from Apple’s App Store or Google Play free of charge. iZettle’s chip-card reader – designed for small businesses and independent service providers such as gardeners, housekeepers or repair people who conduct large or frequent transactions – is now available for purchase from iZettle’s website. The card reader comes to the price of €24 excluding VAT, and with a voucher toward iZettle transaction fees of the same amount.
With iZettle there is no lengthy sign up processes, no monthly fee or minimum transaction volumes. Instead, iZettle merchants are charged 2.75% of payments made. iZettle then electronically deposits payments in the merchant’s bank account.
“We are seeing huge demand for our service throughout the Nordics,” said Jacob de Geer, CEO and co-founder of iZettle. “And with the holidays right around the corner we’re very happy to have resolved the Visa situation. For now, Visa transactions in Denmark, Finland and Norway will be done on the cardholders phone, as Visa Europe prefers. But most important for us is that we’ve restored Visa acceptance for our small business users and individuals there”.
iZettle is EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) approved, and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). No sensitive data is ever stored on the mobile device or iZettle reader, and all data traffic is encrypted.
