STOCKHOLM – December 4, 2012: iZettle’s mini chip-card reader that turns smartphones and tablets into mobile credit card terminals is now available free of charge to all small business customers of Nordea Bank in Sweden.
iZettle’s card reader, which plugs into smartphones and tablets, normally sells for SEK 249 including VAT.
“iZettle’s vision from day one has been to simplify and democratise payments,” said Jacob de Geer, CEO and co-founder of iZettle, whose mobile payment service is now available throughout the U.K., Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. “Powerful partners are essential to making that vision a reality and this campaign is a part of that.”
iZettle’s app and card reader work with all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club.
With iZettle there are no lengthy sign up processes, no monthly fees or minimum transaction volumes. Instead, iZettle merchants are charged 2.75% of payments made. iZettle then electronically deposits payments in the merchant’s bank account.
iZettle is a payments institution and is regulated by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority. iZettle is EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) approved, and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). No sensitive data is ever stored on the mobile device or iZettle card reader, and all data traffic is encrypted.
