Android lovers, you asked for it. Begged for it. Demanded it. And naturally, being the first mini chip-card reader for iOS devices, we’ve decided to be the first to test a mini chip-card reader for Android. Today we can finally announce that we are partnering with Samsung to make iZettle available for Android in a limited beta in Sweden. For now, iZettle for Android is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S II, S III, and Note models. If you’re the owner of one of these models and would like to be a beta tester, you’ll be happy to hear that we’re handing out 500 free chip-card readers to lucky Android users. Yay!
Intrigued? Here’s the way it goes:
1.Download the iZettle app from Samsung Apps
2.Create an iZettle account and request an Android chip-card reader.
3.If you’re lucky, a chip-card reader for Android will arrive in the mail in the next couple of weeks.
The specifics: Security standards are naturally the same as for iOS. The chip-card reader size and design resemble and are quite as nice as the original, if we may say so. The biggest difference is that the chip-card reader plugs into your device’s headphone jack and is battery powered. The battery can be charged by plugging in the reader to a computer via a mini-USB connector, or to the smartphone’s regular charger. We really hope you’re excited to test iZettle for Android, and we are very much looking forward to your feedback.
That’s all for now. If you live in Sweden and have the right Samsung model, please hurry and download the app and register an iZettle account to make sure you don’t miss out on this very first batch of chip-card readers.
As for the rest of you Android owners, hang in there! You haven’t been forgotten. We’re of course working on extending the support for additional Android devices and to bring iZettle for Android to all our other countries as well. Have no doubt; we’ll let you know as soon as we’re ready for you.
