Social Media for Small Businesses
8 augustus 2013
You have created a Facebook page, tweeted your first tweet and posted a photo on Instagram. Then what? How can social media be a tool for your small business? Here are 3 tips on how you can use social media as a tool to better understand your customers, increase sales and simplify customer communication.
Use social media tools
There are plenty of tools that can be used to help you make the most of your social media presence. Our favourite is Sprout Social which can be used to measure engagement, schedule posts so you’re not stuck at the computer and analyse your overall performance in social media. Sprout Social is also great for responding to and keeping track of customer support inquiries. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial and choose from three different monthly plans starting at $39 USD per month. Other tools to check out are Hootsuite, Followerwonk, Twitter Ads, and Facebook Page Manager.
Share updates – and listen to your customers
Social media is probably one of the easiest tools for getting in direct contact with customers at a low cost. Share everything from details on an upcoming VIP sale, changes to your opening hours or let your followers be the first to know that a popular item has been restocked. Also remember also to listen to your customers. Ask them questions and focus on creating engagement. You’ll get valuable insights on how they feel about your company as well as areas for improvement.
Share success stories
You can also use social media to highlight customers who already use your service or product. This does not only increase credibility – it also gives new customers a clue to what your business is all about, not to mention that it’s a great way to reward loyal customers with a public thank you. In other words: a win-win situation.
That’s it for today! Next up is how you can increase the positive effects around word-of-mouth. Stay tuned for more marketing tips.
