Taking payments with the iZettle Reader

1. Add a product
- Add a product to your shopping cart or enter an amount.
- Hand over the Reader to the customer.

2. Tap “Charge”
- Tap Charge in the app.
- Select Card as Payment Method*.
- Tap, insert or swipe your card in the reader.

For contactless payment:
Tap the card on the reader. The card must be held within 2 inches of the readers display.

3. Confirm transaction
- (If applicable) Enter PIN or sign.
- Check the display of the reader to confirm that the payment has been approved.

4. Receipt
- Enter the customer’s email address and/or mobile number to send a digital receipt. You can also print the receipt if you’re connected to a printer.

Taking payments with the Card Reader Lite



Plug in the connection cable to the audio jack on your smartphone/tablet, and to the card reader. Then, launch the app. The card reader is ready to use when the charging indicator blinks green. 

1. Add a product
- Add a product to your shopping cart or enter an amount.
- Hand over the card reader to the customer.

2. Tap “Charge”
- Tap Charge in the app.
- Select Card as Payment Method*. 
- Insert or swipe the card in the card reader. 

3. Confirm transaction
The customer enters their PIN on the card reader, or signs on the screen on your smartphone/tablet.

4. Receipt 
- Enter the customer’s email address and/or mobile number to send a digital receipt. You can also print the receipt if you're connected to a printer. 

Done!

 

Taking payments with the Card Reader Pro & Card Reader Pro Contactless

1. Add a product
- Launch the app on your device.
- Add a product to your shopping cart or enter an amount.
- Hand over the card reader to the buyer. 

2. Tap “Charge”
- Tap Charge in the app. 
- Select Card as Payment Method*.
- Insert or swipe the card in the card reader.

For contactless payment: 
- Tap the card on the card reader. The card must be held within 2 inches of the card reader display.

3. Confirm transaction
- The customer enters their PIN on the card reader, or signs on the screen on your smartphone/tablet. 

4. Receipt
- Enter the customer’s email address and/or mobile number to send a digital receipt. You can also print the receipt if you're connected to a printer.

You cannot use iZettle for remote transactions, for instance when making a sale over the phone. Please read more in our Terms & Conditions, paragraph 16. 

* If you only take card payments with iZettle, you can disable the Cash payment option under the Payment Settings menu in the app:
- Tap on
- Go to Payment Settings
- Disable Cash payments (by turning off the green button)
 
 

Customer’s bank statement

If you have a private iZettle account*, the bank statement will simply say “iZettle”.
If you are using a business account, the information will be “iZettle*[your company name]”.
 

Card declined

What to do if a card is declined:

If the payment is declined, the payment can’t be completed. We recommend you let the buyer use another means of payment and then ask them to contact their bank for more information.

*The option to register for individual iZettle accounts has been removed in March 2017. The following applies to existing users​
